The 2025 NYS Uniform Code and State Energy Code will take effect on December 31, 2025
For the 2025 Uniform Code, there will be a transition period from October 1 to December 30, 2025, during which applicants may choose to comply with either the 2020 or 2025 Uniform Code.
The 2025 Energy Code also takes effect on December 31, 2025, but no transition period will be provided.
In addition, please be aware that the implementation and enforcement of the 2025 provisions of the Energy Code and Uniform Code that prohibit the installation of fossil-fuel equipment and building systems in new buildings have been suspended by Court Order and are neither effective nor enforceable.
There will be no grace period after December 30, 2025. Projects submitted after that date must comply with the 2025 Codes.
